Periodic Homogenization for a Model of Plasticity

Abstract: We study the n-dimensional wave equation coupled
with an elasto-plastic nonlinear stress-strain relation. In the framework of
periodic homogenization, we derive an effective system of equations in the
limit of small-period oscillations. We prove well-posedness for the original
and homogenized systems and we build a sequence of correctors. The proof
relies on L. Tartar's method of the oscillating test function and on an
adapted version of div-curl Lemma.
