The Western Pennsylvania ARML Team
Western PA ARML is a program for high school students interested in mathematics and in math competitions. At weekly practices, students learn math that isn't normally part of the high school curriculum, focusing on problem-solving techniques. At the end of May, we send a team of 15 students to participate in the ARML competition at Penn State University.
Practices are each Sunday during the school year from 4-6:30 pm. Typically, we spend the first half of practice in a problem solving session and the second half discussing solutions to the problems, with a break for pizza in the middle. We compete in the Mandelbrot competition during some practices. On these weeks, we start with Mandelbrot and follow with a practice competition, and discuss solutions to the practice competition.
