- (08-27-18) Welcome to Combinatorics!
- (08-27-18) Your homework is required to be typed. Here is a tutorial for how to use Overleaf to type your
homework. This document was generously provided by the benevolent Dr. Kristin Heysse. Here is the template
referenced in the tutorial, which can be copy and pasted to start your
document.
- (8-27-18) My office hours will be Tuesdays from 2-4 pm in Wean
7124, or by appointment.
- (08-29-18): The first homework is posted.
- (09-05-18): The second homework is posted.
- (09-07-18): Here is a set of lecture notes
that cover the first 2 weeks of material.
- (09-14-18): Homework 3 is now available.
- (09-19-18): The lecture notes have been updated to include the first 2 lectures on spectral graph theory.
- (09-21-18): The fourth homework is no available and the first exam will cover all of the material needed to
do these 4 homeworks.
- (09-24-18): The lecture notes are updated through the material that will be on the first exam.
- (10-01-18): Here are the solutions to the first exam.
- (10-03-18): Here are Matousek and Vondrak's lecture notes on the
probabilistic method. These are a good reference that are less dense than Alon-Spencer.
- (10-05-18): The lecture notes have been updated to include the first
moment method and alterations.
- (10-12-18): Homework 6 is now posted and the notes have been updated to
include all of the material that you need for it.
- (10-22-18): Homework 7 is now posted. It is long! (but you have 1.5 weeks to complete it)
- (10-23-18): Chapter 5 of the lecture notes
have been updated to include the material on bipartite Turan numbers
- (11-06-18): Homework 8 is now available
- (11-06-18): Your exams are now graded. Here are the solutions.
- (11-14-18): An optional Thanksgiving break homework is now available and the lecture notes have been
updated.
- (11-26-18): Your final homework is up and is due Friday December 7. Your third exam will be on Monday
December 10.
- (11-27-18): The lecture notes now have the Lovasz Local Lemma.
- (12-4-18): The notes are updated with the combinatorial nullstellensatz and 3 applications.
