TUESDAY, May 27, 2008 CNA SEMINAR: 1:30 p.m., PPB 300, Paolo Podio-Guidugli, Univ. of Rome Tor Vergata TITLE: Crystalline Phase Transitions Via Molecular Dynamics ABSTRACT: Within the framework of MD, stress-induced phase transitions incrystalline solids are modeled by variants of the well known Parrinello-Rahman method. I shall give a careful presentation of that method, and offer a few comments on admissible stress states and on certain connections with the variational approach to study crystal equilibria.
