Stability of vortices in Bose-Einstein Condensates


Abstract: The structure of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation supports existence of topologically non-trivial solutions - vortices. Their stability is studied by the means of a very robust method - the Evans function. Besides studying a particular case of NLS we discuss some general (analytical and numerical) simplifications for the traditional method.
