Title: Homogenization of non-linear elliptic operators

Abstract: In in this talk, we discuss the periodic homogenization of certain nonlinear elliptic PDE. Following the work of L.C. Evans, we demonstrate how the "perturbed test function method" can be used to prove that solutions in the viscosity sense to a certain class of periodically oscillating, second order elliptic PDE converge to the solution of an effective equation of the same type. As in the linear case the homogenized limit equation can be characterized as the solution of a cell problem.
