Title: Homogenization, Asymptotic Expansion and 2-Scale Convergence - Part 1

Abstract: Following our examination of Gamma Convergence, we turn to the flavor of problem for which these techniques were originally developed by De Giorgi. When the parameters of a system exhibit fine periodic microstructure, we expect the solutions to tend in the limit to the solution of a "homogenized" system. To this end, we will discuss Asymptotic Expansion as a technique for determining the homogenized system and the astounding tool of 2-scale convergence in proving homogenization results.
